A view of polluted roads of Delhi full of smog

The Environment Minister of Delhi Mr. Gopal Rai has announced on Monday that odd-even rule will be applied in Delhi from 13th November to 20th November 2023. He also said that schools will be shut for all classes except for 11th and 12th.

This step has been taken in view of the severe air pollution that has detoriated the air quality of Delhi NCR. On Sunday Delhi was put under Centre’s Stage IV of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) amid ‘severe’ air quality. The Air Quality Index (AQI) has surpassed 450 in Delhi making it the most polluted city. A fourth and final stage of Anti-pollution plan will be implemented if air quality degrades beyond this level.

Delhi government also said that 50% of the staff working in government and private offices in capital region will work from home. This step is taken to lessen number of cars on road.
