The manager of Arsenal, Mikel Arteta, did not hold back in expressing his dissatisfaction with the team’s poor performance, as they go into the New Year having lost the chance to top the league table. On New Year’s Eve, Arsenal suffered a 2-1 loss at Fulham as the Gunners produced mediocre performances once again.

Fulham proved too strong for Arsenal, who were hoping to win the Premier League. Arsenal’s recent struggles were evident in the match at Craven Cottage, as the Gunners were unable to build on an early lead given by Bukayo Saka, who tapped in a rebound from a Gabriel Martinelli shot five minutes into the contest.

But their lead was short-lived as Jimenez of Fulham tied the score at 29 minutes, igniting the disappointment that would befall the visitors. Arsenal supporters were further dismayed in the second half when De Cordova-Reid scored the game-winning goal by taking advantage of shoddy defending on a corner, leaving Arsenal to lament their missed opportunities and defensive errors.

The setback occurs two days after Arsenal’s unexpected home loss to West Ham United. “We definitely played our worst game of the season today, so we need to take a hard look at ourselves in the mirror. After today, we will definitely need that reset because that will remain in our stomachs for a few days.
