The International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) signed a deal for the hosting rights of the 2025 Champions Trophy in Dubai on Friday.

2 Reasons Why ICC Champions Trophy 2025 Should Move Away From Pakistan

Zaka Ashraf, the current head of the Cricket Management Committee overseeing PCB affairs, signed the agreement for the mega event in 2025.
“Chairman PCB Management Committee Mr Zaka Ashraf was joined by ICC General Counsel Jonathan Hall in the signing of the hosting rights to Pakistan at the ICC headquarters,” the PCB stated in a statement. The last time Pakistan hosted an ICC event was the ODI World Cup in 1996.

Although Pakistan was scheduled to host both the 2009 Champions Trophy and the 2011 World Cup matches domestically, security concerns forced the relocation of both events from the country after a terrorist attack on the Sri Lankan team in Lahore in March 2009.

The primary obstacle concerning Pakistan’s hosting of the Champions Trophy is the possibility that the Indian government would forbid its team from visiting Pakistan for the matches.
